SculpSure vs. CoolSculpting: Which Procedure Is Right for You?
The SculpSure laser treatment is a non-surgical, fat-reduction treatment that is used to provide body contouring and fat destruction to clients in Northern Virginia.
The new SculpSure technology is not the only non-invasive, fat-removal procedure available in the Virginia marketplace. The popular alternative is called CoolSculpting, which promises the same sort of body sculpting results, but does so through a different method.
In deciding which procedure is better, it is important to understand how each works and what the implications are for your body.
SculpSure: What Is It?
Like many patients doing research on methods to reduce fat, you’re probably wondering, “What is SculpSure?” SculpSure is a laser fat-removal treatment that uses an applicator pad to comfortably and safely heat fat cells enough to destroy the fatty cells.
At the same time, the tip of the applicator chills the surface of the skin to prevent the heat from affecting more than the targeted area.
SculpSure is an FDA-approved laser treatment and is actually the first treatment to safely use heat to melt fat cells for the abdomen, belly, love-handles and flank regions.
CoolSculpting: What Is It?
Now, you’re curiously asking yourself, “Well, what is this CoolSculpting treatment then?”
CoolSculpting is a process of obtaining fat removal without surgery that employs super cold temperatures.
While SculpSure uses measured heat to shock and kill fat cells, CoolSculpting will freeze them to death instead.
CoolSculpting is also FDA-approved.
Where Does the Fat Go in SculpSure or CoolSculpting?
The next most commonly asked question clients may have is where does the fat go when you undergo a SculpSure procedure?
Although both procedure methods are different in their approach, the ultimate goal of destroying the fatty cells is the same.
The cells are broken down and naturally metabolized by the body. The destroyed fat cells are recycled or excreted.
Is This Safe?
As with all new treatments technologies, safety is a major priority. SculpSure is designed to be a comfortable, practically painless procedure that requires no downtime following your in-office treatment.
This is the primary reason why the cooling applicator is used to balance out the heat from the laser on the surface of the skin, so as not to harm the exterior layers of the skin.
Comprising the skin is an important factor in helping you make your decision. The side-effect free profile is frequently highlighted in many of SculpSure’s stats and reviews.
CoolSculpting, unfortunately, has a bit of an issue in this arena. The primary concerns are that CoolSculpting applies suction to the skin during the treatment, which can cause extreme discomfort to the muscles and skin. The pain can be high and frequently leaves the area stiff, hard and swollen for days after the procedure. This suction plus cold can also result in bruising or temporary nerve pain, some times lasting weeks after the procedure.
Do SculpSure and CoolSculpting Work?
Now that you learned a bit more about what to expect in regards to treatment process, now it’s time to get to the topic at hand: does SculpSure or CoolSculpting actually work? Absolutely.
The both sure do. You can easily find many before-and-after images for both technologies--SculpSure and CoolSculpting--that demonstrate objective reductions in a treated area’s fat volume.
SculpSure can be expected to remove up to 24 percent of the fat in the targeted area while CoolSculpting has data that suggests a treatment result of up to about 22 percent.
In this data set, SculpSure wins out by a hair. The real differences come when you look at what led up to those outcomes.
SculpSure can achieve its results in a short period of time, with only a 25-minute treatment by area and flanks, in this example, can be treated simultaneously. CoolSculpting, conversely, can only treat one area at a time.
In the CoolSculpting treatment method, flanks are considered two areas, and up to 60 minutes per area treated.
Also, clients must be mindful that multiple CoolSculpting treatments mean that you will be repeatedly experiencing the procedure’s discomforts and side effects.
