Baby Botox Is the New Trend

Many plastic surgeons and dermatologist stress the benefits of a preventative skincare regimen.  As a result, many women and men are opting to start anti-aging treatments when they are younger and in smaller doses.

For many of these patients, the first step to preserving smooth, wrinkle-free skin is Baby Botox.

What Is Baby Botox?

Baby Botox is a growing trend of minimizing wrinkles with very small amounts of botulinum toxin A. This specialized injectable partially restricts muscle contraction to smooth lines and prevent deeper ones from forming.

The first treatment is usually done as conservatively as possible. Patients may return for additional injections in two weeks if they would like further relaxation of the targeted area.

Who’s a Good Candidate for Baby Botox?

Many Baby Botox users are in their 20s and want a subtle softening of wrinkles on the forehead, crow’s feet, and in between the eyebrows. These patients hope to treat specific lines, while maintaining mobility and a natural appearance.

Patients that have a history of neurological disorders or are pregnant or nursing are not candidates for any Botox treatment.

How Is Baby Botox Different from Regular Botox Treatments?

The dose for Baby Botox is about half of what is used for a standard Botox injection. Providers often administer Baby Botox as a series of many micro-injections, rather than several larger injections.

Additionally, the results of standard Botox last approximately four-to-six months. However, because Baby Botox does not fully prevent muscle contraction, its results wear off in two-to-three months.

Is Baby Botox Less Expensive?

Patients may assume that because they are receiving a smaller amount of product, that Baby Botox would cost less. However, this type of treatment requires a highly-skilled injector and patients may end up paying for the provider’s expertise.

Baby Botox injections also have to be maintained every one-to-two months, so the additional office visits may become as expensive as standard Botox.
